The Avacus app supports two authentication methods on launch: a 6-digit numeric PIN code and biometric authentication (fingerprint or Face ID).
However, biometric authentication depends on your device's own security settings, and biometric permissions for the app can be automatically disabled after a period of inactivity, or following an OS update or device restart. If biometric authentication becomes unavailable, you'll need to authenticate using the PIN code you set up during initial setup.
Additionally, viewing the seed phrase or private key for your wallet always requires the PIN code, even if biometric authentication is enabled.
We do not keep a copy of your PIN code. If you forget or lose it, there is no way for us to recover it.
If You've Forgotten Your PIN Code
Restore your wallet via "Log Out of Wallet," then set a new PIN code.
When logging out of your wallet, you'll see a warning that this is "permanent." As long as you've securely kept your recovery information (your seed phrase, private key, or multi-factor authentication reconnection details), it's safe to proceed.
About Restoring Your Wallet
How you restore your wallet depends on how it was originally created when you first launched the app.
Selecting a different restoration method will create an entirely new wallet. Be sure to select the same method you originally used to create your wallet.
