Checking Token Prices with CoinGecko

CoinGecko is a free, no-signup-required site where you can check a token's current price, chart, and market cap. It covers over 17,000 tokens, and its price is averaged across multiple exchanges, giving you a reference price that isn't tied to any single exchange.

Checking a Token's Price and Chart

Enter a token's name or ticker (such as ETH or USDT) into the search bar to go to that token's page. Near the top of the page, you'll find:

  • Current price (updated in real time)
  • 24-hour price change
  • Market cap
  • 24-hour trading volume

Below that, the price chart lets you switch between time frames (1 day, 7 days, 1 month, 1 year, etc.) to see how the price has moved over time.

Prices shown on CoinGecko are reference prices based on data from multiple exchanges. The actual price on the exchange you use to buy or sell may differ slightly.

When to Check CoinGecko

  • When you want to know the current value of tokens you hold
  • When you receive a token with a deceptive name (like "ETHer") and want to check whether its price matches the real ETH
  • When you want a rough sense of the current rate before sending or swapping tokens

CoinGecko is purely an information site for checking prices and charts — it doesn't let you send funds or execute trades. For actual transfers or trades, use the Avacus app or the relevant exchange directly.
